Born on December 10, 2023, Colin Duffy is a rising American professional rock climber specializing in competition climbing. At the age of five, Duffy began climbing. He joined Team ABC in Boulder, Colorado, at the age of eight where he was taken under the guidance of the legendary climbing coach Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou. Duffy was a teammate with future Olympic teammate Brook Raboutou.

Duffy won his first youth title along with 10 USAC Youth National Champion titles and two IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships at the age of nine. This win at the youth level has secured his position in the Elite Climbing Community.

Duffy was only sixteen when he secured the qualification spot on Team USA for the Olympics by earning gold in the men's combined standings at the Pan American Sport Climbing Championship and becoming the youngest climber to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics Games held in Tokyo.

Duffy became the first male athlete to win both bouldering and also topped climbing disciplines in the same event at the 2022 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Innsbruck. This success continued even in the 2023 World Championships where Duffy won a silver medal in the combined event which led to Duffy securing a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Colin Duffy’s High School Career.

In 2018, Colin Duffy joined Stargate Charter School at the age of 15. During his high school years, Duffy as a youth competition climber won the IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships twice in 2017 and 2018 and finished second in the following year. Duffy was also a ten-time USAC Youth National Champion.

At the 2021 IFSC Climbing World Cup, Duffy won his first IFSC Climbing World Cup medal by securing the third position in the lead in the Villars, Switzerland leg. However, Duffy did advance to the final round of the competition climbing sports at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but finished in seventh place.

Colin Duffy is not only an expert in competition climbing but also an outstanding rock climber. His excellence in rock climbing was proved in 2019 at the age of five when Duffy redpointed two 5.14c (8c+) graded sports climbing routes, Pure Imagination and SouthernSmoke,e at the Red River Gorge. On the same day, he also onsighted the 5.14a (8b+) graded sports climbing route Omaha Beach. After two days Duffy redpointed the 5.14a (8b+) route God's Own Stone. Duffy not only climbed his first 5.14d (9a) graded sport route, Life of Villains but also solved a V14 (8B+) grade bouldering problem in November 2021 showing his extraordinary ability to rock climb.

It is very rare for such an accomplished athlete to attend college straight out of high school that too a public college. Duffy is among such exceptions. For Duffy, higher education was always in his plan and that is the reason he is currently majoring in open engineering to go into applied mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder. He joined CU Boulder in 2022.

Though in college Duffy has successfully maintained a balance between academics and his passion. In the 2022 IFSC Climbing World Cup at the Innsbruck leg, Duffy won his first IFSC gold medal by topping the competition. At the IFSC World Cup event, Duffy won his second gold by finishing top in the men's competition lead climbing event making him the first male athlete to win both bouldering and lead climbing.
