
Freestyle skier Eileen Feng Gu, also known as Gu Ailing (Chinese name), was born in San Francisco, California. Beginning skiing at the age of three, Gu was the first athlete to achieve a forward double cork 1440 in 2021. At the 2021-22 World Cup, she achieved a perfect score in the women’s halfpipe, thus claiming his maiden Crystal Globe. She also holds the record of scoring four consecutive wins at the World Cup level. She has been trained at the Nanshan Ski Resort located in Beijing since 2019.
Since 2019, she has been representing China in the big air, slopestyle and half-pipe categories. As per the International Ski Federation, Gu has claimed eight wins, including five halfpipes, one big air and two slopestyle in the World Cup. She claimed the Best Female Action Sports Athlete award from ESPN and the Best Breakthrough Athlete award in 2022. She was considered the second-highest earning women's athlete in the world by Forbes in 2023. Gu is undergoing studies at Stanford University in the quantum physics stream.

As of June 2025, Gu has won three Olympic medals: one silver and two gold in her career at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. She won two gold medals at the Olympics in the halfpipe and big air categories. She clinched the silver medal in the slopestyle category at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. With the win, she became the youngest Olympic winner in freestyle skiing. She also became the first freestyle professional skier to claim three medals at the Winter Olympics.
