Hailing from Bothell, Washington, Evan Olson is an American professional rower who took up the sport quite late, compared to most athletes. He decided to pursue rowing when he had almost completed high school.

Olson's journey began when he read and drew inspiration from a book named ‘The Boys in the Boat,’ written by Daniel James Brown. It's a story about nine people who joined Washington's eight-oar crew team and produced some scintillating performances in numerous events, including the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Along with this, Olson was also pushed by his father Jon.

According to The Daily Herald's website HeraldNet.com, his father, who worked as a firefighter, once brought home a newspaper. It carried an advertisement in the sports section about the University of Washington men’s and women’s rowing teams looking for talent.

Jon gave the newspaper to Evan, who pinned it on his wall and started working on it. He competed in various competitions. The 27-year-old has now gained World Championships experience. He secured the fifth position in the men’s pair at the 2023 World Rowing Championships. He also took the first position at the 2023 Henley Royal Regatta.

As far as international experience is concerned, Evan Olson won a bronze medal with the US men’s four at the 2017 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Bulgaria. He has had an incredible junior and senior career as well. Now, he is headed to the Paris Olympics 2024 and will compete in the heats on July 29. The men’s eight repechage and the men’s eight final will be held on August 1 and 3, respectively.
