One of the biggest global sporting events, the Olympics, will be taking place in 2024 from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France, with athletes from more than 200 countries participating in different disciplines. Notably, this will be the third time that Paris will be hosting the Summer Olympics after 1900 and 1924.

There'll also be football, rugby, archery, and handball pool matches from July 24 to 25. Furthermore, breakdancing will make its Olympic debut in Paris in 2024 and be the first dance sport event, which will also be the last Olympics to be hosted under Thomas Bach's IOC presidency.

2024 Paris Olympics Events

There will be 329 medal events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, across 32 sports in 16 different locations (including Tahiti) between July 26 and August 11. Moreover, the number of events at the 2024 Paris Olympics (329) is the second highest in the history of the Games, with the first being the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics with 339 events.

A total of 32 sports will be played, with 28 in core sports—those that competed in both the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016 and the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020—and four more sports—surfing, sport climbing, skateboarding, and breaking. However, Breaking will not be visible in Paris until the end of the Games as the women's eventis scheduled for August 9 and the men's event for August 10.

Remarkably, Karate and baseball/softball, which were both included in 2020 Tokyo, have not been included for the 2024 Olympics. Also, a format change for sport climbing was introduced; earlier, there was only one medal available for men and women in Tokyo, but there will be two medal events in Paris: one for lead and bouldering, and another for speed climbing.

There will also be a debut for Kayak Cross, a variation on canoe slalom where four competitors compete against each other rather than just the clock in each heat. Furthermore, two new kite events in sailing have been added to the schedule: kiteboarding and windsurfers (iQFoil). Incredibly, men will compete in artistic swimming for the first time in Olympic history, and a team acrobatic routine round will make its debut.
