American table tennis player Kanak Jha was born on June 19, 2000, in Milpitas, California, and was the youngest American athlete to compete in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. He is also the first American born in the 2000s to qualify for the Olympics.

Jha is a two-time Olympian (2016 and 2020) and has also qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has clinched the US National Champion title four times consecutively (2016-2019) and is a two-time gold medalist at the Pan American Games (2018 and 2019). The 23-year-old is also a two-time silver medalist at the 2018 Pan American Games in the men’s team and the mixed doubles.

He has recently qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics through the ITTF Americas Olympic Qualification Event in Lima, Peru. He squared off against Argentina’s player Horacio Cifuentes to qualify for the Olympics for the third time and compete in the men’s singles event in Paris.

Kanak Jha pursued his education at Milpitas High School and has taken the guidance of three coaches in his entire career, who are Joerg Bitzigeio, Stefan Feth, and Zhenshi Li.
