Short-track speed skater Kristen Santos-Griswold, who is from the United States, made her Olympic debut at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. However, she finished fourth in her category after a controversial bump from an opponent. Santos-Griswold might not have an Olympic medal to show for as of July 2025, but she is a regular winner in the Four Continents and World Short Track Championships.
Since short track speedskating was added to the Olympic program in 1992, Kristen Santos-Griswold became the first American to win medals at one world championship in each of the three individual distances (500, 1,000, and 1,500 meters) at the 2024 ISU Short Track World Championships. According to Team USA's official website, Kristen started figure skating at the age of three, and by the time she was nine, she was speed skating. The Olympian likes to go hiking, skiing, and spend quality time by the pool when she is not competing. She is pursuing her PhD and intends to become a physical therapist after her skating career ends.
