Olivia Reeves, hailing from Hixson, Tennessee, United States is all geared up to feature in her first-ever Olympic Games in 2024. She is currently a senior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), majoring in Sociology. Reeves began weightlifting at 12 and has quickly risen through the ranks, becoming one of the top athletes in the 71kg weight class. In 2021, while still in high school, she won gold medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and overall at the IWF Junior World Championships. Reeves has set multiple American records, including a 118kg snatch, 150kg clean and jerk, and 268kg total lift.

Olivia Reeves achieved historic victories at the 2024 IWF World Cup, becoming the first American woman to win gold in all three events against competitors from China and North Korea. Apart from this, she also won a gold medal at the Pan American Games Santiago in 2023 as well as two bronze medals at the Riyadh World Championships and Bariloche Pan American Championships in 2023.

Where did Olivia Reeves go to School?

Olivia Reeves was a student of Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. As a senior in 2021, at Notre Dame, she won gold medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and overall competitions at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships in the 71kg weight class.

  • She secured a silver medal in the snatch with a lift of 102 kilograms (224.9 pounds)

  • In the clean and jerk, she dominated, securing a gold medal with a lift of 127 kilograms (280 pounds)

  • Combining both segments (snatch and clean and jerk), her total lift of 229 kilograms (504.9 pounds) earned her another gold medal.

Olivia Reeves' College Career

Olivia Reeves attends the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. In May 2024, USA Weightlifting announced that Reeves would represent the United States in the 71kg weight class at the Paris Olympics. This momentous achievement makes her the first actively enrolled student in UTC's 138-year history to participate in an Olympic Games.
