​Born on November 08, 1999, Peter Chatain is a standout American rower from Stanford University. He is making waves in the rowing world with his eyes set firmly on the Paris Olympics. Born to Christopher and Kimberly Chatain, his father was a two-time Flying Dutchman national champion and a collegiate All-America sailor.

Peter’s journey began at New Trier High where he captained the rowing team to a 2016 SRAA national championship in the 8+. He earned himself a spot on the USRowing Under-23 national team selection camp as a sophomore at Stanford. Despite the 2019-20 season being canceled, he became an IRCA All-America first-team member and the Pac-12 Rowing Athlete of the Year in his junior year. Peter also received the IRCA National Scholar-Athlete award and was called into the USRowing U23 National Team Camp. He consistently rowed in the 6 or 7 seat for Stanford’s varsity eight boat, leading them to significant finishes, including third place at the Pac-12 Championships and a top-10 finish at the IRA Championships.

Peter has represented the United States, winning a silver medal at the Under-23 World Championships in the men's 8+, and competed in the 2017 Junior World Championships in Lithuania. His most recent performance at the 2023 World Championships saw him finishing sixth in the men's eight. Peter is an Eagle Scout and a practitioner of Vipassana meditation.

Peter Chatain is an American citizen, born on November 08, 1999. He is an American rower and the son of collegiate All-America sailors Christopher Chatain and Kimberly Chatain. Peter is an Eagle Scout and Vipassana meditation practitioner; he attended New Trier High. Peter was the top scorer on the junior varsity hockey team and captained the rowing team as a senior breaking the school’s 2,000-meter record. Under his leadership, Peter's team won the 2016 SRAA national championship in the 8+ and placed second in 2017 and 2018. Peter has three brothers and continues to honor his father, Christopher Chatain's legacy. Christopher was a two-time Flying Dutchman national champion, who also placed third in the 1968 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Peter Chatain hails from Winnetka, Illinois, United States. He attended Stanford University and was a member of the Varsity Eight that finished 10th at the IRA Championships as a freshman. His sophomore year saw a season cancellation but included a USRowing U23 national team selection.

In his junior year, Peter Chatain earned numerous accolades, including IRCA All-America First Team and Pac-12 Rowing Athlete of the Year. He secured a place on the IRCA Scholar-Athlete list, leading the varsity eight boat to notable finishes, including a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and 13th at the IRA Championships as a senior.
