​Born on November 08, 1999, Peter Chatain is a standout American rower from Stanford University. He is making waves in the rowing world with his eyes set firmly on the Paris Olympics. Born to Christopher and Kimberly Chatain, his father was a two-time Flying Dutchman national champion and a collegiate All-America sailor.

Peter’s journey began at New Trier High where he captained the rowing team to a 2016 SRAA national championship in the 8+. He earned himself a spot on the USRowing Under-23 national team selection camp as a sophomore at Stanford. Despite the 2019-20 season being canceled, he became an IRCA All-America first-team member and the Pac-12 Rowing Athlete of the Year in his junior year. Peter also received the IRCA National Scholar-Athlete award and was called into the USRowing U23 National Team Camp. He consistently rowed in the 6 or 7 seat for Stanford’s varsity eight boat, leading them to significant finishes, including third place at the Pac-12 Championships and a top-10 finish at the IRA Championships.

Peter has represented the United States, winning a silver medal at the Under-23 World Championships in the men's 8+, and competed in the 2017 Junior World Championships in Lithuania. His most recent performance at the 2023 World Championships saw him finishing sixth in the men's eight. Peter is an Eagle Scout and a practitioner of Vipassana meditation.
