We're back with another edition of our weekly series where we note the biggest rumors from the professional wrestling grapevine that came true. We begin with a rumor about Edge's injury and, as previously reported, he did actually tear his triceps during an RKO spot at WWE Backlash.

During a recent interview, Samoa Joe also confirmed an earlier report which revealed the backstage reaction to his commentary work.

WWE completed the purchase of a popular wrestling promotion in the United States after months of speculation and negotiations.

A title change was also confirmed to take place after a spoiler got leaked online, however, WWE could be scrambling to make a few changes.

Lastly, a dream match for Brock Lesnar was also talked about backstage, as confirmed by another WWE Superstar.

#5. Edge did suffer the injury during an RKO spot at WWE Backlash

Edge is set to be out of action for a considerable amount of time due to a torn triceps injury, for which he's already undergone surgery.

Dave Meltzer had reported back in June that he was told by one person in the company that Edge may have suffered the injury during the second or third RKO of the match.

Edge tore his triceps in one of the retakes. I don't know the spot that he got hurt. One person speculated to me, but I don't think he knew that it may have been the second or third time they did that RKO. You know that spot where he comes down from the top rope and does that RKO. It might have been there.

During a recent appearance on Booker T's Hall of Fame podcast, Edge confirmed that he popped his triceps during the springboard RKO spot at WWE Backlash.

Edge explained:

"I did a springboard into the second RKO. I went 'ooh.' I got the cold sweats and I feel like I'm going to throw up. That's usually a sign. That's where it popped. I thought, okay, I think I have a little bit more in the tank to finish this out. We got it finished. I got to the back and I was like 'I think something happened to my tricep.' I don't think it's complete, but it feels like something. They felt around and they said 'we think it might be complete."

The Rated-R Superstar could be sidelined for up to six months but he should ideally face Orton one last time when he does return to in-ring action in the WWE.

#4. Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley was talked about backstage

Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley has been one of those WWE dream matches that has been in the making for over a decade. Both the former MMA competitors are now in the WWE, and we're yet to see the match come to fruition.

Tom Colohue had reported a few times before that there have always been talks backstage regarding booking the match and WWE officials are determined to make it a reality.

Bobby Lashley confirmed the rumor and stated during the Table Talk podcast appearance that there was talk of teasing the match and seeing where it went at one point.

However, the match couldn't happen as Brock Lesnar was in a feud with Roman Reigns at that time. Lashley went on to state that now is the right time for WWE to give the fans the behemothic clash between him and Lesnar.

"I haven't talked with Vince, but I think at one point in time, there was some talk about maybe teasing it and seeing where it went. But, at the time, he was knee-deep in a feud with Roman, and then Seth was coming behind him. They already had things lined up for him. I think if anytime, it is now. Now is a really good time. I think I've done all the paying dues stuff that I've done since I've been back. I think my character is starting to develop a little more into being who I am. I get to finally beat people up. I don't have to lay down to people that are 100 pounds less than me that shouldn't really even be in the room with me, let's put it that way." (h/t WrestlingNews.co)

#3. WWE purchases EVOLVE

Dave Meltzer had reported in the second week of June in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was a possibility of WWE purchasing EVOLVE.

PWInsider confirmed this past week that WWE has completed the purchase of EVOLVE after months of negotiations.

The Gabe Sapolsky-led promotion was in a bad financial condition ever since WrestleMania 36 weekend in Tampa, Florida, was canceled and moved to the Performance Center.

It was stated that WWE has bought the promotion as well as the entire video library. It was added that a few EVOLVE talents could also be signed up to NXT in the future.

EVOLVE and WWE have had a working relationship since 2015 as Vince McMahon's company has signed many talents from the promotion, some of which include Matt Riddle, Johnny Gargano, and Apollo Crews.

EVOLVE was considered to be a popular professional wrestling promotion in the United States as it attracted some of the best wrestlers in the world and gave them a platform to hone their skills and possibly impress the WWE bosses in the process. Drew McIntyre had also competed in the company before WWE re-signed him.

Many more details of WWE's acquisition of EVOLVE were revealed which you can read here.

#2. Backstage reaction to Samoa Joe on commentary

Samoa Joe has been exceptional in his new role as one of the announcers on RAW.

Dave Meltzer had stated back in November 2019 that the backstage reaction to Samoa Joe's commentary work has been positive and everyone recognized how good he was in the role.

"A bright spot on the show was the work of Samoa Joe in the Dio Maddin spot as an announcer. He was fresh, quick, and got everything over with a no-nonsense delivery. Joe was so good in the role that you have to at least consider making it permanent."Joe is a regular wrestler and will be back in action when his broken thumb heals. We were told that everyone recognized how good Joe is."

Even Vince McMahon feels that having Samoa Joe in the commentary booth seems right and Joe confirmed it during a recent episode of WWE's The Bump.

Joe realized that being an announcer could be a good fit for him. He revealed that even Vince McMahon thought it was perfect.

I've had zero media aspirations. I just drift through life, and things just hit me as they come. I got on the commentary table - it was funny when the light shined on me, I started to hear the angels sing, I said to myself, 'You know, this might be a good fit.' I then put my headset on, and Vince [McMahon] came through and said, 'You know, this feels right.' I was like, 'I know!'
"It's been a weird journey, but I'm still on it. It's an odyssey and a quest. I'm just trying to take the world along with me. I have a very descriptive mind, you know, when I see things, my observations are quick to come right out of my mouth. So yeah, it's been working out very well."

Samoa Joe will return to the ring as soon as he is cleared, but he is also expected to continue as the announcer on RAW, reportedly replacing Jerry Lawer on a full-time basis.

#1. NXT Great American Bash spoiler, two endings

As unfortunate as it sounds, Saurav Gurjar of Indus Sher accidentally revealed a major spoiler regarding the upcoming Winner Takes All Match between Adam Cole and Keith Lee which is scheduled to main-event Night 2 of the WWE NXT Great American Bash.

The match has already been taped and Gurjar, who was one of the members of the crowd, posted a photo of the finish on his Instagram story. The photo was taken down, but the damage had already been done. The screenshots of the outcome of the match and the winner began circulating all over the internet, and it was first brought to everyone's attention by Sportskeeda's Gary Cassidy after the photo was sent to him.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the WWE office was furious about the leak. While it was not confirmed initially, there was a possibility that the WWE may have shot two endings, or were preparing to call for a last-minute taping to film another finish.

NXT Developmental talent E. J. Nduka took to Twitter and pretty much confirmed that the Great American Bash title match might have two endings.

Adam Cole also revealed that he wouldn't be able to stream on Twitch this week as something urgent had come up work-wise.

WWE may have a swerve in store after all.
