Survivor Series 2020 is in the history books as we witnessed the end of an era with The Undertaker bidding farewell to the WWE Universe after a storied three-decade-long career. Before that, Monday Night RAW took on Friday Night SmackDown for brand supremacy at WWE Survivor Series 2020.

Ultimately, RAW went on to win the pay-per-view with four wins over SmackDown's three wins. With it being one of the 'Big Four' pay-per-views of the year, the rumor mill was full of rumors and speculations for the matches and segments of WWE Survivor Series 2020. While many of them came true, there were some others that didn't.

In this article, let's take a look at five major WWE Survivor Series rumors that didn't come true. Be sure to comment down and let us know whether you enjoyed the show or not.

#5 Kurt Angle to return at WWE Survivor Series 2020

Survivor Series 2020 saw several legends and WWE Hall of Famers walk down the ring before The Undertaker's Final Farewell. While their involvement was confusing as they suddenly disappeared after the commercial break, it was still great to see these legends back. One such legend rumored to return at WWE Survivor Series 2020 was Kurt Angle.

"WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle is scheduled to be in attendance at the Survivor Series this Sunday, PWInsider.com has confirmed. It is likely that Angle is being brought in for the Undertaker's Final Farewell. As previously reported, Kane, The Godfather, and Savio Vega will also be in attendance at the PPV. Whether any of them will appear on camera remains to be seen. It's entirely possible they are being brought in to film WWE Network content or additional material related to Undertaker that will be released down the line."

As witnessed at WWE Survivor Series 2020, Kurt Angle didn't appear. The Olympic Gold Medalist and WWE Hall of Famer has had some interesting matches and feuds against The Phenom.

#4 Bray Wyatt to interrupt The Undertaker's Final Farewell at WWE Survivor Series

Another massive rumor around The Undertaker's Final Farewell at WWE Survivor Series 2020 was that 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt would end up interrupting the segment, possibly attacking The Phenom and setting up a future clash.

Fans kept their eyes stuck to the TV throughout The Undertaker's segment, hoping to see The Fiend crash the party and have an epic face-off with The Phenom at WWE Survivor Series 2020. Bray Wyatt himself subtly teased the same, but ultimately The Undertaker retired without any interruptions or attacks at WWE Survivor Series 2020.

The Undertaker recently spoke about a potential match against The Fiend, teasing some interesting match ideas.

"I would love to have been able to work a program with The Fiend. I mean my goodness, there's no telling what kinda matches we'd come up with. You know, just due to the strength of his character and obviously The Undertaker character. It would have been something else. It might have been a buried alive swamp match from Alcatraz. The possibilities would be limitless with those two characters."

The Fiend vs. The Undertaker looks to be a dream match that we might never witness. A section of fans is of the opinion that The Undertaker should have retired on his back, putting a new Superstar over. But from how it appears, The Phenom is retired for real this time.

#3 Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre to close out WWE Survivor Series 2020

Arguably the most hyped match for WWE Survivor Series 2020 was the mega-clash between the Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Reigns and McIntyre have been two of the most protected Superstars in WWE this year and have impressed everyone a lot.

Hours before WWE Survivor Series 2020, it was reported that their match is scheduled to be the closing segment for the pay-per-view. While it wouldn't have been a bad choice, the company went ahead with The Undertaker closing Survivor Series 2020 with his final farewell and chilling goodbye to the WWE Universe.

Nonetheless, Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns had one of the best matches of the night that saw The Tribal Chief emerge victorious, thanks to some outside interference from Jey Uso. The way the match was booked ensured that McIntyre looked strong even in defeat at WWE Survivor Series 2020.

WWE will surely continue this rivalry between Reigns and McIntyre sometime in the future, but as of now both of them will focus on their next challengers. An interesting stat to note is that the WWE Champion has never defeated the Universal Champion at Survivor Series.

#2 Sami Zayn to get completely squashed by Bobby Lashley at WWE Survivor Series

In one of the four 'Champion vs. Champion' matches at WWE Survivor Series 2020, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn took on the United States Champion Bobby Lashley. It was reported earlier that the match would see Bobby Lashley squash Sami Zayn.

Even though Sami Zayn is much better than Bobby Lashley, they’re gonna work it as a squash.

While it was indeed Bobby Lashley who emerged victorious at WWE Survivor Series 2020, the match wasn't really a squash. The Hurt Business got involved in the proceedings and distracted Zayn on multiple occasions, slightly assisting Lashley. All this combined with Sami Zayn getting some offense and the match lasting nearly eight minutes, it wasn't a complete squash at WWE Survivor Series 2020.

WWE hasn't really done a good job with booking Sami Zayn as the Intercontinental Champion. He has immense potential to put magnificent matches every night and while WWE needs to maintain his heel nature, booking him as a coward champion isn't necessarily the best option for a roster that has several deserving Superstars. As for Bobby Lashley, he continues to dominate Monday Night RAW, but the focus is hardly on his US title - something that needs to be fixed.

#1 Big E to be part of Team SmackDown at WWE Survivor Series 2020

The opening match of the main show of WWE Survivor Series 2020 saw Team RAW annihilate Team SmackDown in a men's five-on-five elimination match. In what was one of the most dominating performances by a team in WWE Survivor Series history, SmackDown saw all its Superstars eliminated without eliminating a single Superstar from Team RAW.

Ahead of the go-home SmackDown episode of WWE Survivor Series 2020, it was rumored that Big E will join Team SmackDown. Instead, it was Otis who was announced as the final member, leaving the fans scratching their heads as to why WWE chose to do so.

After that, there were speculations that Big E might end up turning heel on the New Day at WWE Survivor Series 2020 during their match against The Street Profits. While Big E did appear at the pay-per-view alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, there was no heel turn. Moreover, The Street Profits went on to win the match clean.

Big E was also initially advertised for the dual-brand Battle Royal on the pre-show of WWE Survivor Series 2020, but ultimately wasn't a part of the match. It is to be seen what are the plans for him going forward on SmackDown.
