The ROH World Tag Team Championship is the pinnacle prize for a tag team on the Ring of Honor roster. The title was introduced by the ROH in September 2002 and has since then been a cornerstone of the promotion. Since Tony Khan bought ROH in 2022, it has also been defended on AEW weekly programs and pay-per-view events.
Current ROH World Tag Team Champions
The current ROH World Tag Team Champions are The Kingdom. It is the team of Mike Benett and Mike Taven. In 2023, the two superstars had been feuding against MJF working as The Devil's Masked Man. After revealing themselves as The Kingdom, they challenged MJF for the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
As MJF's partner Adam Cole was injured, he was forced to defend the gold all alone in a handicap match on the December 27 episode of Dynamite. He was no match to the combined strength of the Kingdom and lost the belt.
ROH World Tag Team Championship History
Ring of Honor was created in 2002, and in September of that year, they unveiled the top prize for their tag team division. Upon the introduction, the promotion did not have a title belt and instead awarded a trophy to the team of Christopher Daniels and Donovan Morgan, who were the inaugural champions.
It wasn’t until 2006 that then-champions Austin Theory and Roderick Strong won the title and it began to be known as the ROH World Tag Team Championship. ROH moved from its trophy to the first edition of the title belt in 2003. Since then, the title has underwent various modifications.
