Blue Lock, written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, follows the story of Yoichi Isagi. Following Japan’s defeat in the 2018 Football World Cup, JFU hires football enigma Ego Jinpachi to head the Blue Lock project. It is a training regimen designed to create the world’s most egoistic striker. Hence, 300 strikers from high schools nationwide, including Isagi were recruited into the program to shape one player who could lead Japan to World Cup glory.
