The Fire Hunter anime series is based on Rieko Hinata and Akihiro Yamada's novel named “The Firecatcher Lord.” The story is about how, in the future, human civilizations faced a calamity that forced them to stay away from fire, because if they stayed in the presence of fire, then demonic creatures known as Fire Fiends would hunt them down.
The Fire Hunters try to save the human world and kill the Fire Fiends to extract their blood so they can use it in their machinery. The story revolves around the series' main protagonist, Touko, a young girl who lives in a remote village and is on a journey to return a Fire Hunter's belongings. He had saved her from a Fire Fiend by sacrificing his life.
