Lord of Mysteries episode 9: Klein Moretti discovers new powers as the Clown

Picking up from the previous installment, Lord of Mysteries episode 9 begins with Klein Moretti writing a letter and hoping it reaches Captain Dunn Smith in time. In the letter, Klein describes the Acting Method, the key to quickly digesting potions. He doesn't want his Captain and other colleagues to become a Wild Beyonder like Mr. Havre.

At this moment, Klein Moretti experiences a supernatural phenomenon, where the spirit body of a woman appears out of nowhere. Klein identifies the figure as Daly Simone, who has discovered that Klein Moretti is aware of the Acting Method. According to the Lord of Mysteries episode 9, it's unnatural for a low sequence Beyonder to know about the Acting Method.

When Klein denies knowing such things, Daly Simone says it's either that or he is an evil heretic. Moreover, Daly also knows that Klein has become ready to advance to his next sequence, i.e., the Clown. Even the Nighthawks Captain, Dunn Smith, has slight doubts over Klein's unnatural progression, since it's uncommon for a Beyonder.

Daly Simone further informs Klein that a representative from the Holy Cathedral is already on the way to meet him. The following day, Old Neil and others are seemingly perplexed to discover that Klein has become ready to advance to his next Sequence. Especially, Old Neil cannot believe that a young boy could advance in only two months.

Meanwhile, an anonymous figure from the Holy Cathedral visits the Nighthawks' office to interrogate Klein about how he could digest his Seer potion quickly. Lord of Mysteries episode 9 introduces Crestet Cesimir, the Sequence 5: Spirit Warlock of the Sleepless Pathway.

He is known as the Goddess's Sword and one of the high-ranking Deacons of the Nighthawks. Lord of Mysteries episode 9 shows Crestet Cesimir demonstrating his powers on Klein, who is tied to a chair. He intends to let Klein spill out his secrets, if he is harboring anything. However, Cesimir detects no malice in Klein's heart and feels he is ready to advance to the next stage.

When he is asked about why he kept Klein tied, Cesimir remarks that it's to ensure that the boy wouldn't resort to self-harm. Following this, Crestet Cesimir summons everyone who knows about the Acting Method and makes them go through a swearing ritual. This is to ensure that they won't tell anyone about the Acting Method.

After being content with the results, Crestet Cesimir proceeds with Klein's advancement ritual. Lord of Mysteries episode 9 then shows Klein Moretti preparing the Clown potion with specific materials, including the horns of a goat from the Hornacis Mountain Range.

As soon as Klein drinks the potion, he submerges into a metaphysical dreamscape, where he hears the same Hornacis Mountain phrase. Furthermore, mysterious objects appear around Klein, which are possibly connected to his new abilities. Although he shows signs of discomfort at first, the feeling gradually subsides.

Meanwhile, Crestet warns Klein not to pay heed to the murmurs or cries, as they could be sent by a High-Sequence Beyonder of the same pathway. Usually, they have malicious intent. Furthermore, Klein must be careful with such a Beyonder, especially if they belong to an evil existence. Afterward, in the Lord of Mysteries episode 9, Klein Moretti experiences certain changes in his body immediately after drinking the potion.

He feels lighter and his body moves better than ever. He even shows quick reflexes to catch a few documents dropped by Rozanne. Furthermore, Klein gains new abilities, such as precognition. Additionally, he uses his new powers on Old Neil, who appears slightly ill. At this moment, Klein detects someone's presence behind Old Neil, but the figure dissipates from his vision.

Meanwhile, Old Neil decides to throw a party to celebrate Klein's progress. Although he looks sick, he wants to enjoy the moment with everyone. With that, Dunn Smith and others prepare for the party.

After a light-hearted moment among the Nighthawks members, the narrative of Lord of Mysteries episode 9 shifts the focus to the day when Klein and others are supposed to meet Old Neil for the party. Klein visits Old Neil's house with the rest of his colleagues, but the elderly Mystery Pryer doesn't answer.

Eventually, he does respond from behind the windows, urging everyone to go without him. However, Dunn Smith and others detect strange vibes from Old Neil, who doesn't sound the way he normally does. As such, the Nighthawks Captain says he would like to meet him for a while.

Yet, as soon as he, Klein, and others enter the house, they see fleshy objects surrounding the interiors. It's a horrific and grotesque sight, with strange veins like flesh encompassing the whole house. Suddenly, they see Old Neil, who emerges from a blob of flesh. Lord of Mysteries episode 9 shows Old Neil becoming a Wild Beyonder.

Although he is aware of this, he has no remorse. According to the Lord of Mysteries episode 9, Old Neil wants to resurrect his deceased wife, Celeste. He believes he can achieve this by creating a perfect, immortal body and infusing it with Celeste's spirit from the Spirit World. Old Neil says he has heard the details from the Hidden Sage, who whispered it to his ears.

Old Neil begs everyone to return and let him complete the ritual. He remarks that he doesn't want to hurt anyone, as it goes against the Mystery Pryer's maxim. Old Neil also regrets not comprehending the true meaning of the maxim and understanding the Acting Method earlier.

Meanwhile, Dunn Smith stays quiet, as he is aware of Old Neil's final fate. The elderly man also states that he will go to the mountains and leave the place for good.

However, the Nighthawks' Captain shoots a bullet to end Old Neil's misery. Dunn Smith is heartbroken, and so is everyone, including Klein Moretti. Lord of Mysteries episode 9 ends with the heartwrenching fate of Old Neil.

One of the highlights of the Lord of Mysteries episode 9 was Old Neil, who joined his wife in the afterlife. The elderly Mystery Pryer user was cursed with knowledge, which eventually led him to madness and despair. With that, he transformed into a Wild Beyonder, a Beyonder's worst outcome.
