Born on March 22, 1994, Edwin Orlando Díaz plays baseball as a pitcher for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball (MLB). Díaz was raised in the Puerto Rican community of Naguabo. Díaz played outfield with players like Carlos Correa and José Berríos while growing up in Puerto Rico.

Edwin Díaz was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2012 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners on June 6, 2016. However, the Mariners traded Diaz to the New York Mets on December 3, 2018. Since joining the New York Mets, he has been named to two All-Star games (in 2018 and 2022). He was even part of the All-MLB First Team in 2022. He also pitched a combined no-hitter on April 29, 2022. He was also the AL saves leader in 2018. Diaz is also notable for leading the league in games finished with 65 games and saves with 57 saves in the 2018 season.
