Hailing from Tampa Florida, Evan Chrest is one of the emerging talents on the college baseball scenario. He presenly plays for the Jacksonville Dolphins baseball team and gained significant attention during his freshman season in 2023. His competitiveness on the mound was evidenced by him retiring 98 opponent batters in 90.2 innings in just 15 games in 2023.

He baseball skills were appreciated with him receiving several honors after the season, especially the Freshman of the Year in 2023. Crest was also regarded with ASUN Al-Freshman Team and First Team Freshman All-American honors in 2023. Notably, the Miami Marlins had drafted Evan Chrest in the 17th round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of his high school. However, he chose to attend Jacksonville University.

Evan Chrest’s College Career

Evan Chrest is a student of Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida, United States where he is plying his trade for the Jacksonville Dolphins in the NCAA Division I college baseball program. He debuted with the team as a freshman in 2023.

Evan Chrest was one of the best players of his team in 2023 as he established a freshman record for strikeouts in a single sason with 98 strikeouts (most) in the history of Jacksonville University’s baseball program. Moreover, he also pitched a season high of eight innings against the Lipscomb Bisons on March 19, 2023 and again did the same against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Furthermore, he won his first ten games as a starting pitcher. After the season ended, Chest became the first Jacksonville player since 2015 to become conference Freshman of the Year (in 2023). Additionally, he also become the first Jacksonville player since 2018 to receive All-American honors from D1 in 2023 and first Jacksonville to earn Baseball American All-Ameriacn honors since 2011. He was also declared as a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA, ASUN Freshman of the Year, First Team ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Southeast Region honors, All-ASUN First Team honors and lastly ASUN All-Freshman Team honors.

Evan Chrest attended Paul R. Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida, United States where he represented his high school team, the Wharton Wildcats in varsity baseball. He achieved a win-loss record of 8-1 as a sophomore in 2019.

As a junior in 2020, his win-loss record was 21-5. Finally, his senior 2021 season saw him claim a win-loss record of 20-8. For his performance as a senior, he became the District MVP in 2021. He is also a two time member of the All-Country Baseball team. Throughout Evan Chrest’s varsity baseball career, he pitched 115 innings, made 3 saves and had an ERA of 1.83. He also had a win-loss record of 15-4.
