Isaac Edgardo Paredes Calderon is a professional baseball player who plays for the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball (MLB). Paredes is a native of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, and made his Major League debut on August 17, 2020. Paredes signed as an amateur free agent by the Chicago Cubs in 2015, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2017. He spent two seasons with the Tigers before being traded to the Tampa Bay Rays after the 2021 season. For the Tampa Bay Rays, he became an integral offensive contributor and had a breakout 2024 season, earning him his first MLB All-Star team selection. Halfway through 2024, he was traded back to the Cubs before joining the Houston Astros in 2025. At the international level, Paredes led Mexico to the bronze medal in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. As of 2025, Isaac Paredes at the Astros was signed in exchange for Kyle Tucker. He was signed for a deal worth $6.625 million in January. His first home run for the Astros was on April 11, 2025, in a 14–3 victory over the Angels.
