
Jacob deGrom is a pitcher who plays for the Texas Rangers in the Major League Baseball (MLB). deGrom hails from DeLand, Florida, United States and attended Calvary Christian Academy during his high school career. He played college basketball at Stetson University and was selected as the 272nd overall pick by the New York Mets in the 2010 MLB draft.
deGrom, who played as a shortstop before eventually becoming a pitcher, made his MLB debut in May 2014 and won the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year the same year.
