Jared Thomas is an American outfielder who is in his sophomore year with the Texas Longhorns. He began playing high school baseball at the Waxahachie High School where he was a highly-touted baseman and was the No. 24 overall player in the state of Texas in the 2022 recruiting class. As a junior in 2021, Thomas batted .484 with 14 doubles, four home runs along with 38 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Coming out of high school, Thomas signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Texas and so he went undrafted.
The Waxahachie outfielder began his collegiate journey with the Longhorns where he played as a baseman during his freshman campaign. In 2023 as a rookie, Thomas slashed in .321/.398/.484 in 250 plate appearances and played in all 64 games with 14 doubles and four homers. After an outstanding display in his first year at Texas, Thomas was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team. In 2024, we saw a rapid jump in his numbers as the sophomore outfielder batted .349/.434/.635 in 291 plate appearances while recording 16 home runs, four doubles and 60 strikeouts. According to MLB.com, Thomas is tabbed as the 60th-best prospect in the 2024 Draft Class.
