Salvador Johan Pérez Díaz is a Venezuelan-American professional baseball catcher who is currently on the Kansas City Royals roster of Major League Baseball (MLB). Nicknamed "Salvy", Perez was born on May 10, 1990, in Valencia, Carabodo, Venezuela. Perez grew up in a single-parent household, where only his mother was there to look after him. He was abandoned by his father at the age of four.

Perez was signed by the Kansas City Royals as a 16-year-old for $65,000. Perez made his MLB debut on August 10, 2011. He won the World Series Championship in 2015 with the Royals, where he was also voted the World Series MVP. Perez is also an eight-time MLB All-Star, five-time Gold Glove Award winner, and four-time Silver Slugger winner. Perez also holds the distinction of having the record for the most hom runs hit in a season for a primary catcher with 48.
