Teoscar José Hernández is a professional baseball player who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB). Hailing from the Dominican Republic, he made his Major League debut on August 12, 2016. Teoscar Hernandez played for teams like, Houston Astros from 2016–2017, the Toronto Blue Jays from 2017–2022, and the Seattle Mariners in 2023. He earned two All-Star selections in 2021 and 2024, three Silver Slugger Awards in 2020, 2021, and 2024, and two All-MLB Second Team awards in 2021 and 2024. During the 2020 season, Hernandez had a .289 batting average with 16 home runs in a short season and won his first Silver Slugger. During the 2024 postseason, Hernandez scored a home run in Game 3 of the NLDS as a grand slam and hit .350 during the World Series. Following his contribution to the Dodgers' championship, Hernandez signed a three-year contract extension worth $66 million and started the 2025 season with a milestone, reaching his 200th career home run on April 27.
At the international level, Hernandez plays for the Dominican Republic. He played the 2015 WBSC Premier12, recording five hits in 15 at-bats, with a home run and a double. In 2023, he represented Japan in the World Baseball Classic and played in four games.
