Born August 3, 1995, Zachary Peter Gallen is an American professional baseball pitcher, playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks roster of Major League Baseball (MLB). Gallen hails from Somerdale, New Jersey, U.S., and was born to parents Jim and Stacy Gallen up there. He attended Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey. At the age of 11, Gallen attended the Tri-State Arsenal Baseball Academy in New Jersey. He played college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels for three seasons.
Gallen was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals, his favorite team during his childhood, in the third round of the 2016 MLB draft. He was subsequently traded to the Miami Marlins in 2017 and made his Major League debut with them in 2019. Gallen was then traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the middle of the 2019 season. Gallen earned his first recognition in the All-Star Game in 2023.
