Jayden Maiava is an American college football player who will play his first year with the USC Trojans in the 2024 season. Maiava began his football career at Sierra Vista High School before transferring to Kaimuki High School in Honolulu where he threw for 3,317 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2019. He played his final year of prep career at Liberty High School where he led them to the state title game. Maiava threw for 2,027 yards and 24 touchdowns and earned All-League First-Team honors. He was ranked the No.23 quarterback in the country by ESPN in the 2022 recruiting class. The three-star quarterback from Honolulu embarked on his collegiate football journey with UNLV Rebels despite getting offers from top programs like Auburn, Louisville, California, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Tennessee.
In his freshman season, Maiava did not see any action and redshirted his first year with the Rebels. The following year as a sophomore, Maiava saw more playing time as he appeared in 14 games while recording 3,085 passing yards and 17 passing touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Maiava was named 2023 Mountain West Freshman of the Year before announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal following the conclusion of the regular season. Maiava announced he would join Georgia Bulldogs before flipping his commitment to USC Trojans at the start of 2024. He will be a strong candidate to lead Lincoln Riley’s defense going into the 2024 season.
