The Mumbai Indians (MI) are up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in their final group stage encounter of IPL 2023. It is a must-win game for MI to qualify for the playoffs.

MI along with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are tied on 14 points. They will try to win with a big margin tonight to surpass RCB on NRR even if the latter beats GT later in the night. Else, they simply hope that GT gets the better of Faf du Plessis's men in the final league encounter. While MI are placed sixth in the points Table, SRH are languishing at the last place after a dismal campaign.

This is a dead-rubber for SRH, meaning they can come out with absolute freedom to express themselves, something that is always a dangerous proposition for any opposition.

To add further excitement to this riveting encounter, several former MI players will be playing for SRH, They will surely be well aware of the dynamics, strengths and weaknesses of the MI squad. On that note, let us take a look at three former MI players that play for SRH now.

#1 Mayank Markande

One of the many finds of MI, Mayank Markande played for the franchise in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He had an amazing start for the franchise but slowly teams got accustomed to his variations and were able to take him to the cleaners. However, he had a decent spell with the franchise as he picked up 16 wickets in 17 matches.

Markande then plied for RR in 2021 but featured in just one match for them. In 2022, he played a solitary match for MI.

Ahead of IPL 2023, he was picked by SRH for ₹50 lakhs. He had been mighty impressive this year as he has picked up 12 wickets for the franchise in just 10 matches at a decent economy-rate of 7.89. He will be looking to put in a fine performance for his franchise to help them avoid an embarrassing last-place finish.

#2 Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen is one of the rare international cricketers to have made his IPL debut before his international debut for his nation in any format of the game. He was picked by MI in 2021 for a base fee of ₹20 lakhs. He picked up two wickets in as many appearances at an economy-rate of 7.50.

Jansen joined SRH last season and since then has been plying his trade for the franchise. In 2022, the lanky pacer picked up seven wickets in eight games at an economy-rate of 8.56. This season he has improved his wickets-tally but has proven to be a lot more expensive. In eight matches, he has picked up 10 wickets at an economy-rate of 9.89.

#3 Anmolpreet Singh

Anmolpreet Singh was picked by MI before IPL 2019. However, he featured in only three matches for MI until 2022. In three matches for the franchise, he scored just 29 runs.

Singh was picked by SRH before IPL 2023. He has performed better for SRH in just four appearances, with 105 runs at an average of 26.25 and a strike-rate of 128.05.
