Electing to bat first on a batting strip, RCB lost their captain Kohli in the third over. Gayle didn’t last long as he was dismissed for 19 of the bowling of Pravin Tambe.

Rahul Tewatia dismissed Vijay Zol for 16 and Bangalore were struggling at 40-3 in 8.1 overs.

However, Yuvraj Singh and De Villiers had other ideas. They took the attack to the opposition and upped the run-rate.

The pair added 132 runs in 65 balls, which took the wind out of the Rajasthan bowlers. Yuvraj smashed his way to a 38-ball 83, which comprised of seven boundaries and seven maximums.

While De Villiers smashed 58 runs off just 32 balls, his innings comprised of one boundary and five sixes. This assault propelled RCB’s score to 190/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, openers Karun Nair and Rahane got the team off to a brisk start scoring at nearly eight an over. Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal provided the initial break-through picking up the wicket of Rahane for 24.

Yuvraj was bought into the attack and he picked up the wickets of Shane Watson and Stuart Binny in the ninth over. He continued his golden run with the ball by picking up the wickets of Sanju Samson (11th over) and Nair (14th over).

Yuvi with his four-wicket haul broke the back of Rajasthan Royals and they were facing a daunting task ahead with 83 runs required off six overs.

Steve Smith and James Faulker didn’t give up as they charged against RCB bowlers. The Bangalore franchise first smashed Varun Aaron for 14 runs in the 15th over and followed it up by scoring 21 runs off Mitchell Starc in the 17th over.

With 44 to win off 18 balls, they clobbered Ashok Dinda for 23 runs of the 18th over which included two sixes and two fours in the over. Aaron was the given the ball to bowl the penultimate over with 21 runs in the bank.

However, Faulker and Smith finished off the game in the very over by scoring the required runs, with the Australian all-rounder in particular hit two sixes and a four to finish of a remarkable victory for Rajasthan Royals.

Kohli and his men were distraught as they saw a game go by, which they had in control for the most part of the match.

For his 17-ball 41 with the bat and 1-42 with the ball, Faulkner was awarded Man of the Match.
