3 players RCB should consider trading in after IPL 2025 ft. Smaran Ravichandran

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) broke the jinx to win the IPL title in the 2025 season. They beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the final to lift the trophy for the first time.

They were among the most consistent teams throughout the season and had an exceptional tournament. At the end of the league stage, RCB finished second on the table with nine wins and 19 points from 14 matches.

They beat PBKS in the first Eliminator before beating them in the final again. Their well-balanced side, with the correct picks at the mega auctions, reflected in their victorious IPL 2025 season.

However, going into the next season as the defending champions, RCB will want to further fine-tune their squad and bring in a few players to address certain gaps. That said, here are three players they can consider trading in from other teams after IPL 2025.

#3 Mahipal Lomror

Mahipal Lomror was acquired by Gujarat Titans (GT) during the IPL 2025 mega auctions for ₹1.7 crore. Lomror, who is an all-rounder, did not feature for GT in a single game throughout the season.

Lomror is a left-handed batter and bowls left-arm off-spin as well. Interestingly, he was released by RCB after the 2024 season, having played three years for them from 2022. In the 2024 edition, Lomror had scored 125 runs from ten innings with a strike-rate of 183.82.

Known for his ability to score quick runs and bowl a few overs of spin, the left-hander can be a potential backup for Krunal Pandya. With Krunal and Devdutt Padikkal being the only two prominent left-handers in the squad, the team also needs more southpaw's in the batting line-up, which can be addressed with Lomror's return.

#2 Smaran Ravichandran

Karnataka batter Smaran Ravichandran was roped in by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) as a replacement for Adam Zampa in the IPL 2025 season. However, he had to withdraw from the league due to an injury and did not play a single match.

Smaran, a local lad and a left-handed batter, will help RCB fill the gap of not having enough left-handed batters in the mix. SRH seem to have their batting order sorted and could release Smaran with no place for him.

The 22-year-old has an impressive T20 record. He has scored 170 runs from six matches at an average of 34.00 and a strike rate of 170 with a half-century. RCB initially struggled to win at home in the 2025 season, and having more local players in the mix could benefit them.

#1 Washington Sundar

GT all-rounder Washington Sundar could be another player RCB can consider trading in for the next IPL season. Sundar is another experienced cricketer who bowls off-spin and is a left-handed batter.

Like Lomror, Washington Sundar also fits the bill, keeping in mind the need for a left-handed batter and someone who can bowl. Sundar has picked 39 wickets in his IPL career at an economy rate of 7.69. This season, he also scored 133 runs from five innings with a strike rate of 166.25.

Sundar can score quick runs with the bat and be used as a floater in the batting order, providing flexibility as and when required. Notably, Sundar has also played for RCB in the past, representing them from 2018 to 2021.
