The Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets in a thrilling last-over encounter in the Tata IPL 2023 on Friday, May 19. With this win, RR stayed alive in the competition and are placed at the 5th position. Meanwhile, PBKS are out of contention for a spot in the Playoffs and are currently languishing at the 8th spot in the IPL Points Table.

Batting first at home, PBKS posted a competitive total of 187/5 at the end of their 20 overs. In reply, RR were given a solid platform by half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 runs off 36 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (51 runs off 30 balls).

They were further kept in the hunt by quick-fire cameos from Shimron Hetmyer (46 runs off 28 balls) and Riyan Parag (20 runs off 12 balls). The most impressive aspect of the youngster's innings was that he wasn't slogging the ball, but playing proper cricketing shots and finding the gaps in the field. His heroics went in vain as RCB won the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs in the end. However, this innings showed that the youngster possesses the ability and the mindset to achieve big things.

Playing against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings, the 22-year-old did not fail to impress India's greatest-ever finisher. Playing at home, Jurel (34 runs off 15 balls) played an exceptional innings to propel his side to a score in excess of 200. He struck 3 fours and 2 sixes in a knock that came at a strike-rate of 226.67.

The best feature of this innings was how he successfully attacked one of the best death bowlers of the tournament, Matheesha Pathirana (4-0-48-0). His efforts bore fruit as RR won the massive by a handsome margin of 32 runs.
