Ashwani Kumar is a professional cricket bowler who plays in the Indian domestic cricket circuit and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was born on August 29, 2001, in Jhanjeri, Mohali. He made his First-Class (FC) debut for Punjab in October 2019 against Rajasthan in Jaipur. He took two wickets across two innings in his FC debut game. Then, he made his List-A debut against the same opposition at Ranchi on December 08, 2021. He made his T20 debut against Haryana at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on October 30, 2022. He bowled just two overs and went for 13 runs in his T20 debut game.
Ashwani Kumar was first scouted after his good performances at Sher E Punjab T20 Competition in 2024. Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise signed him for INR 30 lakhs during the IPL 2025 auction. As of April 11, 2025, Ashwani Kumar has reportedly played just two FC, four List-A, six T20 (domestic), and two IPL matches.
