The Pakistan Squad for Cricket World Cup 2023 has a 15-member team which includes: Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr. Babar Azam will captain the Pakistan team. The head coach of the team is Grant Bradburn. Mohammad Haris, Abrar Ahmed and Zaman Khan will travel with the team as reserve players.

The Pakistan Squad for Cricket World Cup 2023 was announced on September 22 at a press conference in Pakistan. Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the squad. The 15-member squad will be led by star batter Babar Azam.

Pakistan failed to qualify for the final of Asia Cup 2023. They have retained their batters from the continental championship. Fakhar Zaman is likely to open the batting with Imam-ul-Haq, and Abdullah Shafique will be the backup opener.

Babar Azam will bat at number three. He has scored heaps of runs in ODI cricket over the last few years. Mohammad Rizwan will bat at number four and keep the wickets. Iftikhar Ahmed can play the role of the finisher and also bowl off-spin in the middle.

Agha Salman and Saud Shakeel are two quality middle-order batters. One of them is likely to feature in the playing XI along with Shadab Khan, who will bat in the middle-order and bowl some important overs of leg-spin. Khan is also the vice-captain of Pakistan Squad for Cricket World Cup 2023.

Mohammad Nawaz will form Pakistan’s spin attack with Khan. Nawaz is a left-arm spinner and a left-handed batter. Mohammad Wasim is a young pace-bowling all-rounder in Pakistan’s squad who can turn the game upside down with his right-arm pace.

Pakistan Squad for Cricket World Cup 2023 has one of the best bowling attacks. Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi will lead the pace attack featuring express fast bowler Haris Rauf. Both pacers can clock 150 kmph on the speedometer.

Naseem Shah has been ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 because of a shoulder injury. In his place, Hasan Ali will play for Pakistan. Ali is a wicket-taking right-arm fast bowler.

Spinner Usama Mir completes the squad. He is the lone specialist spin bowler in the squad. Mir bowls leg-spin and bats right-handed.

Pakistan has also named three travelling reserves. The first name is wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Haris, who is the backup for Mohammad Rizwan. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Zaman Khan are the other two travelling reserves for Pakistan.
