Dhruv Chand Jurel is an Indian cricketer born on January 21, 2001. He is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He represents the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. At the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, he served as the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 squad.

He received his first Indian call-up for the first two tests against England in January 2024. Dhruv Jurel debuted for India in the third test against England at Rajkot on February 15, 2024. He hit 46 off 104 balls in his first test innings. He put an end to the Indian batting team's collapse in the second innings, stitched together a vital 72-run partnership with Shubman Gill to lead India to victory, and scored the game-winning 39* runs off 77 balls. Due to his vital knocks in both innings, Jurel was named player of the match in his second test.

For the 2023–2024 season, Dhruv Jurel has a Grade C contract with the BCCI, which is worth INR 1 crore a year. After meeting the requirement of participating in three Test matches during the current season in 2024, Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel were added to Group C of the BCCI's central contract with an annual retainership cost of INR 1 crore.

According to the BCCI’s official website, Dhruv Jurel has been added to the Grade C contract for the Annual Player Contracts for 2023-24. As per reports from India Today, an Indian cricketer who has been drawn into the Grade C contract earn INR 1 crore. Additionally, Grade C players are also eligible for an additional match fee of INR 45–60 lakh per Test.

After meeting the requirement of playing three Test matches in a current season, India's newest batting sensation Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel were admitted into Group C of the BCCI's central contract with an annual retainership cost of Rs 1 lakh. During Monday's BCCI Apex Council meeting, their names were approved. Jurel earned Player of the Match in just his second game after scoring 90 and 39 not out in a difficult chase in Ranchi, while Mumbai's Sarfaraz hit three half-centuries in three Test matches against England. Both made the cut for the primary contract signing that was on the schedule.

In the IPL 2023 season, he made his debut for Rajasthan Royals. Jurel was picked up by the 2022 runners-up for the base price of INR 20 lakh. On the IPL 2025 retention day, Dhruv Jurel struck fortune as his pay soared from 20 lakh to 14 crore. Dhruv joined Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. He was retained by the franchise for this large fee prior to the IPL 2025 auction.

The salary for domestic cricket players is projected to rise in 2024 as a result of the BCCI's incentives to promote domestic cricket. Dhruv Jurel belongs to the group of seasoned players who earn INR 40,000 a day for playing in less than 20 first-class (FC) matches. In that scenario, a player would make almost INR 17 lakhs. In an effort to encourage cricket players to participate in the Ranji Trophy more frequently, the BCCI plans to raise this pay scale.
