IPL 2018: 4 players who will make their captaincy debuts

Indian cricket's latest hero, Dinesh Karthik, the man who won the 2018 Nidahas Trophy single-handedly, has been given the opportunity to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2018. As far as the captaincy experience goes, Karthik has captained Tamil Nadu to victory in 2009/10 Vijay Hazare Trophy and has also led India Red in a triumphant Duleep Trophy campaign. He also led Delhi Daredevils for 6 games in previous seasons.

"It is an honour to represent Kolkata Knight Riders, one of the most successful franchises in the IPL and I look forward to this new challenge. I am excited about the squad that has been assembled, which has a great combination of experience and youth", said Karthik on being appointed as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders.

The major challenge that Karthik has to overcome is to make a connection with the city of Kolkata as he is an outsider leading that side. The captaincy role will definitely help Karthik in evolving as a player and as a person.
