IPL 2018: 4 players who could have won the title for Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore are perhaps the oddest side in the history of the Indian Premier League. Despite having packed the side with heavyweights, they have forever struggled to get going, and have never looked convincing.

Even back in 2016, when they made their way to the finals, it was all because of the individual brilliance of a certain Virat Kohli.

Here in this slider, we take a look at four players who would have been ideal for RCB and had they been picked in the side in the auctions, could have helped them in getting their hands on the trophy.

#4 Suryakumar Yadav

A slightly left-field choice, Suryakumar is a domestic cricket legend and has given enough indications of his prowess even in the shortest format.

After being the finisher for Kolkata Knight Riders, he is now opening the innings for Mumbai Indians, and this is where Royal Challengers Bangalore might have missed a trick.

Yadav could have been the Indian player who could have walked in at number five or six and taken on the bowling attack. Also, he could have been used as a makeshift opener if need be.

Oh, Royal Challengers Bangalore!

#3 Andre Russell

Another match-winner with the bat and ball, Andre Russell has been doing wonders with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have historically splurged big money on players who have not turned up, case in point, Tymal Mills, Chris Woakes and the rest.

They should have been more prudent with what they did at the auction table in previous years, and should have gone after the West Indian. With the ball, Russell has the ability to bowl four overs, contain runs and also pick up wickets.

And then with the bat, he has the ability to go big and long, and could have been the perfect foil for Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at the top.

Well, RCB missed the bus and they are ruing it till date!

#2 Sanju Samson

Despite having the resources and the brain trust, Royal Challengers Bangalore have never banked on a tried and trusted wicket-keeper and this is where they have been struggling over the years.

Kedar Jadhav, AB de Villiers, KL Rahul have kept wickets for them while a certain Sanju Samson was snapped up by Rajasthan Royals and then by Delhi Daredevils.

Samson is brilliant with the bat and is a solid wicket-keeper while it is a case of what-ifs for RCB and their scouts.

Another opportunity grassed!

#1 Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Perhaps the most complete bowler in India at the moment, Bhuvneshwar Kumar might have been the answer to Royal Challenger Bangalore's persisting bowling problems.

Bhuvi has the ability to pick up wickets with the new ball as well as with the older one and perhaps with his inclusion in the side, Kohli could have lived an easier life as the skipper of RCB.

Also, he could have brought a lot of experience to the team which is what teams need in the IPL.
