The start of an important match for both the sides was delayed due to rain and the match was reduced to 18-over a side. Just as the game began, Rajasthan struck the first blow in the form Colin Munro's wicket off the fourth ball of the game. But that did not stop Prithvi Shaw who outscored his captain by scoring 47 runs off 25 balls.

After the wicket of Shaw, Pant and Iyer scored plenty of fours and sixes on the way to their half-centuries. They managed to score 92 runs from 43 balls but both the batsmen got out in the same over. Vijay Shankar contributed his bit in the end before rain stopped the play again and Delhi ended up scoring 196/6 in 17.1 overs.

After the rain delay, the target for Rajasthan Royals was revised to 151 in 12 overs. Buttler was sent to open with Short and the Englishman scored a scintillating half-century off just 18 balls. The rampaging inning of Buttler, in which he scored 67 off 26 balls, was brought to an end by the experienced Amit Mishra in the seventh over.

Daredevils were helped by a struggling Short and comfortably heading towards victory as RR needed 51 runs in 3 overs. But Short hit three sixes off the first three balls of Maxwell's over, before getting out on the fourth ball which made things interesting as 30 were needed off the last 2 overs. Krishnappa Gowtham scared the double D's with a 6-ball 18 but could not hit the six required off the last ball. Delhi managed to win the match by 4 runs as Trent Boult gave away just 10 in the last over.
