IPL 2018, DD vs SRH, Match Prediction: Who will win the match between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Delhi Daredevils will face off against table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad in a do-or-die encounter at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on May 10.

The Daredevils probably have had one of their worst seasons ever, winning just three out of the ten matches they have played so far, due to which they are languishing at the bottom of the IPL standings.

They have not performed particularly poorly with the bat as the youngsters in their side, namely, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, have been in top form, scoring runs with ease and giving the Daredevils a good start in most of their matches. It is their bowling which has been a letdown. They have been conceding too many runs throughout the innings and have not been able to pick up wickets at regular intervals. They have been quite poor at the death as well and have not been able to close out the matches.

With four games remaining, they will need to win all of them and hope for a few of the other teams to slip up as well in order to make the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad seem unstoppable. They began their IPL 2018 journey with three wins in a row but slipped up in the middle with a few losses. Luckily, they found their feet again and have now won five matches on the trot and are on top of the IPL standings with 16 points to their name, thus qualifying for the playoffs as well.

Their bowling has been their strength as they have been able to defend almost any total. They were able to defend meagre totals like 118, 132 and 146 against the Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively.

They will look to close out their campaign with a couple more wins and ensure that they finish on top of the table.

If Delhi Daredevils bat first:

Predicted score: 160+

The Daredevils strength is at the top of their batting order. If they get going, they could easily cross the 200 run mark. However, given the Sunrisers' bowling strength, they will find it hard to do so. However, we could expect them to score around 160-170 with probably two of their batsmen scoring half-centuries. If they do manage to score that much, they might just be able to restrict the Sunrisers and come out with a win.

If Sunrisers Hyderabad bat first:

Predicted score: 150+

The Sunrisers' batting department has been quite poor over the past few games. Luckily enough, their bowling has more than made up for their weakness in their batting. Apart from Kane Williamson, the top order has failed to get going and the lower order has not been able to provide the finishing touches. We could expect them to score around 150-160 once again. If they do manage to score that much, restricting the Daredevils might not be much of an issue.

Final prediction:

I expect the Daredevils to cause an upset over the table-toppers. They are in a do-or-die situation and we could expect their batsmen to come to the party big time. The trio of Shaw, Iyer, and Pant will be the key to their batting line-up. With Glenn Maxwell opening the batting, we might just see him perform this time around.

With a win, the Daredevils will move above the Royal Challengers Bangalore and go to the seventh position on the table.
