Ashwin’s form with the white ball has always been a concern in the last few years. The 31-year-old missed the last edition of IPL due to injury and his return to T20 cricket hasn’t been memorable. Ashwin added the leg break to his weaponry to be successful in this format of the game, but it went haywire for the Kings XI skipper which has dented his confidence.

The Ashwin of CSK looked a lot more attacking, going for wickets, but in the past few years, he turned out to be a defensive run containing bowler which isn’t helping the course of his side.

Being the only player to be retained by Kings XI before the auction, a lot was expected from the left-arm spinner but he hasn’t come up with the goods so far for his side. The 24-year-old has taken just 3 wickets in the 7 matches he played and has been in and out of the side frequently.

While Mujeeb Ur Rahman is maintaining constant pressure from one end, he doesn’t have the support at the other end from the Indian spinners. Kings XI would be hoping that the Indian spinners strike form soon to sail them through to the playoffs.
