Maxwell would try to justify his owner's decision to buy him for Rs 9 Crores

Glenn Maxwell began his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils in 2012 but made the news as the "Million Dollar Baby" when Mumbai Indians shelled out a huge amount to acquire his services in 2013. The star-studded batting line-up of Mumbai Indians didn't give him enough opportunities to display his talent but was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

2014 was a phenomenal season for the Australian batsman. He scored 552 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 35. His performance since then has dropped significantly and he was not even retained by the Punjab side for this year's IPL Auction.

Maxwell will be asked to perform the role of the finisher and his big hitting prowess would come in handy for the Delhi team. Delhi has an extremely strong batting line-up and they would set the innings up for a Maxwell flourish and it would allow him to play freely.

Maxwell has also been dropped by the Australian side and with a huge price tag of Rs 9 Crores to his name, he has a lot to prove this season. He has the ability to win matches single-handedly for his team and Delhi would be hoping that he would put up a good show this year. 2018 may well be the season where he proves all his critics wrong
