Ah, The Indian Premier League!

The IPL is one of the most anticipated tournaments in the realm of cricket. A tournament that leaves cricket fans awestruck with the finest quality of cricketing action the dimension of T20 format has to offer. The IPL has cemented an incredibly high ceiling of reputation ever since its inception way back in 2008.

Every season, the IPL provides us with some unbelievable cricketing moments. We, the ardent cricket fans, love to savour these moments and bask in the glorious nature of the gentleman's game. From 'never-seen-before' shots, terrific display of bowling to nail-biting finishes and catches that leave us rubbing our eyes in disbelief- name it and the IPL covers it for you.

From Brendon McCullum's 158 in 74 deliveries in the IPL 2008 to Shane Watson's incredible century in the final game of the IPL 2018, the batting department of cricket has always been the "It Factor" of the IPL. The 2018 edition of the VIVO IPL was no exception as it imbibed some of the most exquisite & unconventional cricketing shots that rendered us speechless even after watching replays in disbelief. Let's take a look.

#1 Ishan Kishan's helicopter shot

The explosive keeper-batsman Ishan Kishan earned praises and reputation playing for Mumbai Indians last year. In a high-octane battle against Kolkata Knight Riders, he registered a fabulous knock of 62 runs in 21 deliveries. Though this knock included a lot of amazing shots, one took the cake in particular.

Paying tribute to the legendary MS Dhoni, Ishan showed his incredible wrist-work by smashing a helicopter-shot when Kuldeep Yadav was given the ball.

#2 Brendon McCullum's scoops over keeper's head

The Kiwi batsman is highly admired for his fearless approach and innovative capabilities of derailing the best of bowling attacks. Donning the RCB jersey against Mumbai Indians, Brendon lighted up the M. Chinnaswamy stadium when he pulled off a tricky scoop shot that sailed over keeper's head and went straight to the sight screen via aerial route, much to the dismay of the bowler Hardik Pandya.

#3 Rishabh Pant's backyard-cricket ramp scoop at the third man

Playing for the Delhi Daredevils last year, Rishabh Pant showed the world how destructive he can be when he wields the willow. In a crucial game against the SRH, Pant hammered a ton that will be remembered for years to come. Facing Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Pant played some improvised versions of the unconventional scoop shot at the third man for a six and two boundaries.

#4 AB de Villiers shuffles wide to strike clean

One of the most prolific batsmen to ever play the game, AB has always been one of the star attractions of the RCB. Mr. 360 left everyone in attendance at the Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi stunned. On a quick delivery by the Kiwi pacer Trent Boult, AB judged the landing spot so quickly that as soon as the ball was released by Boult, AB shuffled wide across the off-stump and slammed the ball as perfectly as it can get, straight to the stands. Virat Kohli in the RCB dugout was left awestruck by AB's brilliance.

#5 Rishabh Pant's baseball-style hit: One-handed six

The 42nd match of the IPL 2018 saw the rising of a star at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi when a 20-year-old Rishabh Pant absolutely demolished the strong SRH bowling line-up by registering 128* off 63 deliveries with 15 fours and 7 sixes to his name.

This knock comprised off some shots that even left some veteran commentators amused. The last over of the DD (now Delhi Capitals) inning saw Pant taking the lethal pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to the cleaners by scoring 26 runs in 5 deliveries with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes.

On a short-of-length delivery by Kumar, Pant tried to strike so hard that one hand came off the bat but there was enough power in the shot for the ball to clear the fence.

#6 Pant's splendid revolving six

This shot was tremendous because of the way Pant timed the ball coming in at a good pace whilst playing on his back foot. The way he was able to hit clean over fine leg was a treat to watch. Maintaining balance by keeping the left foot fixed, acting as a pivot for his whole body to turn about and shifting his bodyweight so perfectly to hit that glorious shot, Pant truly delivered a shot that was nothing short of phenomenal.
