IPL 2018, SRH vs CSK: Three masterstrokes from the match

<p>
CSK clinched a crucial win over SRH

The match between the two sides from the top four saw Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting the Chennai Super Kings.

Put into bat, a middle-order blitz from Rayudu and Raina propelled the visitors to a defendable score of 182 runs despite a sluggish start from the openers.

Chasing 183, the onus was on Kane Williamson after three early strikes in the powerplay overs.

He was then accompanied by the explosive Yusuf Pathan, as the duo bamboozled the CSK bowling all over the ground but the Men In Yellow proved to be too good for the home team as they succumbed to a defeat by four runs.

Let’s take a look at three of the most impressive decisions from the match:

#1 Bhuvneshwar at his very best against Shane Watson

Bhuvi had the last laugh against Watson today

Shane Watson was high on confidence after a century in the previous encounter against Rajasthan Royals.

But his stay at the crease in this game didn’t last for too long as he was undone by some superb bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

After smacking him for a Six over the square leg on the previous delivery, Kumar was bang on with his variations to scalp Watson on the next delivery.

It was a knuckleball that he has used it to the perfection to fox many greats in the past. It was the pace off the delivery that saw Watson early in the shot as he could just manage a flick to the fielder at short-midwicket.

#2 Persisting with Deepak Chahar for three overs in powerplay

Ente
Chahar has been a revelation for CSK this season

Defending a tricky total of 182, CSK needed some early breakthroughs in the first six overs to put some pressure on the opposition up front. The new ball bowler in Deepak Chahar was a great foil on such a slow pitch in Hyderabad.

The right-arm medium fast was impressive in his first spell of three overs as he bagged three crucial wickets to make the game evenly poised after the powerplay.

Much due to the success in first two overs, he was given the third over on the trot as he managed to scalp Deepak Hooda to finish with the figures of 7/3 in the powerplay.

#3 Dhoni ahead of Billings and Jadeja

Dhoni's innings played a big role in CSK registering a good total

After the fall of Ambati Rayudu in the 17th over, it was quintessential from CSK’s point of view to end the innings on a high along with Suresh Raina, who was going after the bowlers. As a surprise move, Dhoni came into bat ahead of Sam Billings and Ravindra Jadeja.

The decision must have been on the back of Dhoni’s form in the previous game against Punjab when he smashed his highest IPL score playing for CSK.

The skipper rose to the occasion as he mustered a quick fire 25 runs from just 12 deliveries to see his side mounting a total of 183 to win for the home team.
