Having enjoyed eleven successful editions, the Indian Premier League is all set to go in its twelfth season. In all these seasons, The Indian T20 league has been a center-stage for many cricketers to showcase their skills.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has probably been one of the most unfortunate teams of the IPL. Despite having reached the final thrice, they have never been able to taste the celebration of lifting the IPL trophy.

Though RCB has had star-studded line-ups filled with exceptional cricketers like Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers play for them.

In the 2018 IPL, Bangalore had a bad season where they finished up with the sixth position in the points table.

Here, we take a look at the three players from their squad who can help Royal Challengers Bangalore to clinch their maiden title.

#3 Yuzvendra Chahal

The Haryana born leg break spinner came into limelight in the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2009, where he took 34 wickets and finishing the tournament as its leading wicket-taker. His googlies can rarely be decoded by the batsman these days.

Yuzvendra Chahal represented the Mumbai Indians in three editions from 2011 to 2013. However, he had to wait a couple of years to make his IPL debut.

In the 2014 IPL Auction, Chahal was bought by the Royal Challengers for ₹10 lakhs. He then went on to pick up 23 and 21 wickets in the 2015 and 2016 IPL respectively.

Chahal has played 70 matches and took 82 wickets with an economy of 7.90. In the 2018 IPL Auction, he was brought back by the RCB using the Right to Match card.

If Chahal can perform at the level he has been performing in the Indian team, Royal Challengers Bangalore will definitely make it to the playoffs and will probably win their first title.

#2 AB de Villiers

An exceptional mixture of wonder, ferocity, and elegance, AB de Villiers is one such player who took the cricket world by storm.

The former South African skipper started off his Indian T20 league vocation with the Delhi Capitals. In the IPL 2009, he scored heavily for the then Daredevils with a total of 465 runs at an exceptional average of 51.66.

Despite having a fair performance for the franchise, Mr. 360 was not retained by Delhi Capitals.

In the 2011 IPL Auction, AB was picked up for US$1.5 million by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has been the greatest finisher for them since, scoring 25 fifties and two centuries with a record two 200+ partnerships and five 100+ partnerships (both with Virat Kohli).

The 2016 IPL was his best season where he scored 687 runs at an impressive strike rate of 168.79.

His destructive batting performance at the middle-order can push the pressure back on the opposition and would serve RCB well in the tournament.

#1 Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has represented the Bangalore based team every year since the inception of the cash-rich Indian league in 2008. He has a splendid record playing for them, having scored 4948 runs at an impressive average of 38.35.

The Indian skipper is also second on the list of the highest run scorers in the league, only behind Suresh Raina who has scored 4985 runs. In the IPL, he is just 37 runs short of becoming the highest run scorer.

In the 2011 IPL season, RCB had retained only Virat Kohli from their squad of 2010, releasing all the other cricketers into the auction pool.

IPL 2016 was a remarkable edition for him as he scored 973 runs in just 16 matches at an unbelievable average of 81.09 and becoming the first ever player to score four centuries in a solitary season of the tournament.

The fans will surely look forward to his aggressive batting and innovative captaincy when he steps on the field.
