The biggest exclusion from the Daredevils squad prior to the auction is Gautam Gambhir. The veteran Indian cricketer was bought by the Daredevils last season and was made the captain as well. However, Gambhir himself stepped down after a string of poor performances.

He recently announced his retirement from all forms of the game as well.

Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Shami, too, were released from the squad.
