The Delhi Capitals found a solution to their leadership problems amidst the chaos of last season and despite being knocked out, managed to finish strong. Shreyas Iyer, was made the skipper after Gautam Gambhir decided to drop himself after unsatisfactory performances and left the huge burden on the young Mumbaikar's shoulders.

Iyer delivered both as batsman and as captain though Rishabh Pant's batting outshone him. Iyer has been in good form ahead of this season with live-wire domestic performances including 148 in a Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 match, breaking innumerable records with his knock.
He has continued to be ignored by the national team, a mystery for which there has been no answer because Iyer has been impressive in the few chances he has got. He's out of reckoning for a direct World Cup berth but with strong performances in the IPL, he can certainly be a backup player and prove himself.
