#1 Faf du Plessis in for Ambati Rayudu

One CSK player who has disappointed the most so far is Ambati Rayudu. From amassing 602 runs in 2018 IPL to becoming a potential number four batsman for team India in ODIs, Rayudu had a memorable 2018.

After a disappointing ODI series against Australia at home, Rayudu wanted to make a mark in the IPL to regain his number four spot in the Indian ODI squad. But, the chance looks bleak for the 33-year-old who has managed the scores of 28, 5, 1 and 0 in the four matches he has played so far.

Against Mumbai, he was expected to score big as he has represented the franchise for eight years. Unfortunately, he got out for a golden duck off debutant Jason Behrendorff. This doesn't augur well for CSK whose 2018 IPL campaign success depended largely on their openers' splendid run with the bat. Chennai needs a solid and experienced player like Faf du Plessis at the top to lay a perfect platform for their ruthless middle-order.
