Kings XI Punjab had a very poor IPL 2019. The team once again failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and finished at the 6th spot. The Punjab-based franchise appointed R. Ashwin in 2018 as their new captain with the hope of turning things around. However, Ashwin failed to bring about major changes as Kings XI failed to qualify for the playoffs two seasons in a row.

Rumours were floating around that Ashwin felt unsettled in the team and the players were not happy with his captaincy. The rumours were confirmed when King XI Punjab decided to release Aswhin and trade him out to the Delhi Capitals, in exchange for Jagadeesha Sucith and some additional funds.

Lokesh Rahul is expected to lead the team in IPL 2020. As far as the in coming players are concerned, Punjab has signed Krishnappa Gowtham from the Rajasthan Royals. In return, Punjab have traded out Ankit Rajpoot to the Rajasthan Royals

#4 Kolkata Knight Riders

Over the years, KKR has not been very active in the trading window and it was the same this time around. The Knight Riders have, nonetheless, traded in Siddhesh Lad from the Mumbai Indians.

It is unlikely that Lad will get to play regularly. However, he can prove to be a very good backup option for top-order batsman Shubhman Gill.
