Chris Woakes was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a huge amount of INR 7.4 crores in the 2018 Indian Premier League Auction. He played 5 matches for RCB and picked up only 8 wickets at a high economy-rate of 10.47. Opportunities to show his batting skills were less.

In the 2017 IPL, Woakes had been bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and gave an outstanding performance. He was the franchise's leading wicket-taker with 17 scalps in just 12 games at an economy-rate of 8.67.

Woakes has contributed for his various teams with both bat and ball. However, he could not get an opportunity to play in the 2019 IPL.
