RCB skipper Virat Kohli amassed an unbelievable 973 runs in the 2016 edition. Kohli got the runs from 16 matches at an strike rate of 152.03 and an average of 81.08. He slammed seven fifties and as many as four hundreds. Kohli’s best of 113 came against KXIP at Bengaluru in match number 50. Kohli's dazzling knock came off 50 balls and featured eight sixes. RCB posted 211 for 3 batting first and won by 82 runs. Kohli scored 100 not out off 63 balls in a losing cause against Gujarat Lions.

His other tons were 108 not out from 58 balls against Rising Pune Supergiant and 109 from 55 deliveries versus Gujarat Lions again, this time in a victory. RCB made it to the final against SRH, but failed to chase down 209 despite Gayle’s 76 from 38 and Kohli’s 35-ball 54.

2017 | 641 runs by David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Warner again led from the front for SRH. This time, he smashed 641 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 141.81 and an average of 58.27. The left-hander hit one hundred and four fifties in the edition. Warner’s best of 126 came off only 59 deliveries against KKR in the 37th match at Hyderabad. The innings featured eight hits over the fence. SRH posted 209 for 3 and won the contest by 48 runs. Sunrisers made it to the eliminator but were knocked out by KKR in a rain-hit encounter. Warner struggled, making 37 from 35. Kolkata easily won chasing a revised target of 48 in six overs.


Kane Williamson

Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson proved he can be a match-winner in the T20 version as well with 735 runs from 17 games in the 2018 edition. Williamson scored his runs at an impressive strike rate of 142.44 and an average of 52.50. Williamson hit as many as eight fifties in the season. His best of 84 from 51 was a brilliant knock, but came in a losing cause against CSK in the 20th match of IPL 2018. Leading the side, Williamson hit five sixes and as many fours, but SRH fell tantalisingly short by four runs in a chase of 183. Hyderabad made it to the final of the tournament, but went down to CSK by eight wickets. Williamson made 47 from 36. However, Shane Watson’s unbeaten 117 from 57 led CSK in the chase of 179.

2019 | 692 runs by David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

For the third time in the IPL, Warner won the Orange Cap. He was in smashing form in 2019 again with 692 runs in 12 games at a strike rate of 143.86 and an average of 69.20. Warner slammed one hundred and eight fifties in the edition, and formed a splendid partnership with Jonny Bairstow at the top of the order, featuring in a record three consecutive hundred-run stands.

The third century partnership saw Warner post his highest of 100 not out against RCB at Hyderabad in game number 11. Warner blazed away in his 55-ball knock, thwacking five sixes and five fours while Bairstow made 114 from 56. The pair put on a record 185 for the first wicket as Sunrisers won by a mammoth 118 runs against a desolate RCB. Warner and Bairstow-less SRH, however, went down to Delhi Capitals in the eliminator, as Sunrisers failed to defend 163 in a thrilling finish.
