This has to be one of the most memorable matches in the history of the IPL. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, CSK batsmen, especially Murali Vijay, were on top form. He slammed the bowlers to all parts of the ground on his way to a brilliant century. Matthew Hayden also contributed with a quick 34, but it was Albie Morkel who finished off the innings in style with his cameo of 62 from 32 balls. The end result of all this batting blitzkrieg was a huge total of 246/5.

Just when CSK fans thought that this will be an easy win for their team, they were proved wrong when Rajasthan Royals made CSK work really hard for the win.

RR had to play aggressive cricket right from the first over and they managed to score at more than 12 runs per over right from the start. Naman Ojha scored an unbeaten 94 runs from 55 balls. But it was Shane Watson who stole the show with his knock of 60 runs from 25 balls. His knock also helped RR come within winning distance of CSK’s target.

Despite all their efforts, Rajasthan Royals fell short of their target by just 23 runs. Vijay was named the man of the match for his superb innings with the bat. This match will forever be remembered as one of Chennai Super Kings’ best matches in the IPL.
