Warner blazes for SRH

After a bit of a dry run, David Warner got back to scoring ways. He went after literally every bowler and provided yet another good start for SRH. Shikhar Dhawan played second fiddle to him as usual. SRH raced off to 51 at the end of the powerplay.

Both openers departed after setting up a good platform

Jayant Yadav removed the dangerous Warner denying him a half century. He went back for 46 runs off 30 balls. Dhawan too departed for 34 soon in search of quick runs. SRH had a golden opportunity to reach a good total from that stage.

SRH failed to get a big score as the middle order collapsed

Yuvraj, Henriques, and Hooda all departed in quick succession. Williamson toiled hard but he could not finish on a high. The spinners Jayant Yadav and Amit Mishra bowled beautifully and kept the scoring rate down. Some outstanding death bowling from Coulter-Nile and Morris ensured that their batsmen would only manage mediocre total.

At the end, SRH were restricted to 146 for the loss of 8 wickets. They threw away a great start provided by the openers, but with the kind of bowling line, up they had, it was not going to be easy for DD batsmen to chase the target down.

de Kock started positively

The in-form Quinton de Kock started on a high note yet again. He went after Nehra and smashed him for 3 fours and a six in his 2 overs. Mayank Agarwal who opened the batting with de Kock was picked up by Nehra in the middle of all the big hitting. DD reached 50 at the end of the powerplay with the loss of one wicket.

Two quick wickets kept the game in balance

Karun Nair and de Kock were dismissed in the same over by Henriques. De Kock was unlucky to be given out as there seemed to be daylight between the bat and the bowl as the bowler claimed a wicket. The umpire took ages to give it out. He played a commendable hand of 44. The responsibility then lied on the shoulders of the two young Indians Samson and Pant to bring the team home.

Indian youngsters guide DD to a comfortable victory

It was a pleasing sight for Indian cricket as India’s next generation cricketers Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant scripted a beautiful finish for DD. Both played matured innings against a strong bowling line up and ensured there were no hiccups at the end. The pair added 72 runs in 52 balls for the fourth wicket and brought the team home with 11 balls to spare.

With this win, DD moved to the third place and kept their hopes to qualify for the playoffs well and truly alive.
