Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting star Virat Kohli hammered the dustbin on his way back to the dressing room in the IPL 2024 clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. The former skipper's reaction came along after what he thought was a wrongful dismissal.

The dismissal came in the third over of the innings bowled by Harshit Rana, caught and bowled off a high full-toss. With the delivery allegedly being above waist height, Kohli was unhappy with the dismissal. However, it emerged from the third umpire's assessment that the ball would have gone below his waist had he been gone the crease.

On his way back to the dressing room, he was seen hitting a dustbin with his gloves.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and sent the home side into bat. Explosive knocks from Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer, followed by finishing touches from Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Andre Russell propelled the hosts to 222 in 20 overs. Cameron Green was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with figures of 4-0-35-2.

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders held their nerve at the last gasp to register a one-run win over the Royal Challengers in Bengaluru. After losing Kohli and Faf du Plessis rather cheaply, Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar shared an explosive half-century partnership. Both also struck fifties.

Sunil Narine struck to pick up crucial wickets, while Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik fell before the final, leaving the last two batters to get 15 off the last six balls. Karn Sharma hammered three sixes, but fell with three runs for RCB to win as Mitchell Starc took a blinder off his own bowling. Later, Lockie Ferguson was run out as the two-time champions emerged victorious.

It was Kolkata's fifth victory, while Bengaluru lost their seventh game of the season.
