Punjab Kings’ hopes of claiming their maiden IPL title were dashed after a narrow six-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Despite the loss, the team displayed great resilience and enjoyed an impressive season under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

The 30-year-old captain not only led with authority but also delivered consistently with the bat. Iyer played in all 17 matches, scoring 604 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 175.07. Mumbai Indians’ quest for their sixth IPL title—and their first since 2020—came to an end with a five-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. The team had a rollercoaster season, winning just one of their first five matches but bouncing back strongly with seven wins in their last nine to secure a playoff spot.

Despite the team’s ups and downs, Suryakumar Yadav was a beacon of consistency. The 34-year-old middle-order batter crossed the 25-run mark in 16 matches, setting a new record. #10 Noor Ahmad - Chennai Super Kings

Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings had a season to forget in 2025, finishing at the bottom of the points table with just eight points from 14 matches. Plagued by injuries, including one to skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK struggled to find their rhythm throughout the tournament.

Despite the team’s challenges, young Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad was a standout performer. The left-arm wrist-spinner played all 14 games, taking 24 wickets at an impressive average of 17.00 and an economy rate of 8.16. He finished second on the Purple Cap leaderboard, just one wicket behind Prasidh Krishna, who topped the chart with 25.
