Squad: Complete list of players in MI team for IPL 2019

After having a disappointing season last year, Mumbai Indians will look to bounce back in 2019. Mumbai Indians started last year's IPL as the defending champions but they failed to live up to expectations and did not even qualify for the playoffs. One of the major reasons for their poor show was the below-par performance of the overseas players. Also, the big guns of the side did not fire.

This time around, Mumbai have tried to cover all the bases at the auction. They have been able to pick a strong and balanced side for IPL 2019. Aside from the experienced players like Yuvraj Singh and Lasith Malinga, they also got Quinton de Kock who is extremely dangerous in T20 cricket.

A strong squad on paper will ensure they are confident about their chances in the upcoming season.

Rohit will have to come good for MI

Wicketkeepers: Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Aditya Tare

Even though Mumbai Indians' batting seems to lack depth on paper, players like Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock and Evin Lewis can win you matches single-handedly on their day.

They are lucky to have two wicket-keepers in Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan who can play as a specialist batsman. Talking about the domestic players, Suryakumar Yadav was in sensational form last year and has shown the ability to bat anywhere in the order. Also, Siddhesh Lad and Aditya Tare are proven customers at the domestic level and Anmolpreet Singh is one of the most promising youngsters in the country.

The Pandya brothers will be crucial for MI in IPL 2019

Allrounders: Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Yuvraj Singh, Pankaj Jaiswal

Mumbai Indians' biggest strength in IPL 2019 is their all-rounders. Despite the fact that Kieron Pollard struggled in IPL 2018, he was retained by the franchise and for good reason. Pollard has been exceptional for the team over the years and had a good CPL 2018.

The Pandya brothers meanwhile have gone strength from strength over the last year. While Krunal made a successful debut for Team India in T20s, Hardik made an impressive comeback after being banned following the controversial Koffee with Karan episode. Ben Cutting has been in sensational form for Brisbane Heat in the BBL and is capable of hitting the ball cleanly.

However, all eyes will be on Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj was bought at his base price in the dying stages of the auction and every Yuvraj fan will be eagerly waiting to see him in Mumbai Indians colours.

Malinga is back with the Mumbai Indians

Fast bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jason Behrendorff, Rasikh Salam, Lasith Malinga, Barinder Sran

Mumbai Indians' weak bowling-attack was exposed in IPL 2018. The team was clearly over-dependent on Jasprit Bumrah and paid a heavy price for not having strong bench strength.

However, Mumbai Indians' team management has tried to rectify that by buying backup seamers in Barinder Sran and Rasikh Salam. They have also got back Lasith Malinga, who will be eager to show everyone that he still belongs in the IPL.

While Mayank Markande will look to extend his purple patch that started in IPL 2018 to this year too, Rahul Chahar will be keen to put his hat in the ring. Mumbai Indians added an important player in Jayant Yadav to the squad as well and he will provide an extra option to the side.
